Skills in Demand visa (subclass 482) — employer sponsored — Australia

An Australian employer sponsors you for a specific job. After 2 years with them you can usually apply for PR (subclass 186).

What you need

• A job offer from an approved Australian sponsor
• Pay at least the income threshold (Core Skills about A$79,400 a year from 1 July 2026; it rises each July)
• At least 1 year of relevant experience
• English (generally IELTS 5 overall or equivalent)

Step by step

• Find a real employer willing to sponsor (job sites, LinkedIn, your field's networks).
• The employer applies to be a sponsor and nominates your job.
• You apply for the 482 visa.
