Employment for Skill Development (ESD) — replaces the Technical Intern programme from April 2027 — Japan

A new training-and-work programme that starts in April 2027. Workers learn skills for 3 years, can change employer under some conditions, and can move to SSW.

What you need

• Basic Japanese (A1 level at the start)
• Selection by an approved sending organisation
