How to move to Croatia from Nepal
One of the biggest European destinations for Nepali workers — construction, hotels, cleaning, delivery — but agency costs are high.
Why Nepalis go: An EU and Schengen country with real job demand; minimum wage around €1,050 gross a month in 2026.
The catch: Agents often charge Rs 5–12 lakh, the work permit only lets you work in Croatia, and rules tightened in 2025 so fewer permits are issued.
Most common route: Croatian employer gets your residence & work permit → visa → Nepal labour permit.
Residence and work permit
A Croatian employer applies for your permit. Once approved you get a visa to enter and collect your residence card.
- Who it's for: Workers with a job offer from a Croatian employer.
- Cost: Croatian fees are small; the main cost is what agencies charge — ask for receipts.
- Time: Often 2–6 months.
- Stay: Usually up to 3 years, renewable.
- Family: Possible after meeting conditions.
- Leads to permanent residence: Long-term residence after 5 years legal stay.
Scams to avoid
- Agents promising 'Europe via Croatia' are planning illegal onward travel.
- Check the employer exists and the contract salary meets Croatian law.
